Doctor’s Day is celebrated on July 1 all across India to honour and remember physician and second Chief Minister of West Bengal, Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy.

(1) Late Bidhan Chandra Roy (Born – 1st July, 1882 at Patna, Died – 1st July, 1962 at Kolkota) – Bidhan Chandra Roy was an Indian physician and politician who served as second Chief Minister of West Bengal from 1950 until his death in 1962. He played a key role in the founding of several institutions and cities like Salt Lake (now a part of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation), Kalyani, and Durgapur. In India, the National Doctors’ Day is celebrated in his memory every year on 1 July. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour in 1961.

(2) Mr. M. Venkaiah Naidu (DOB- 1st July, 1949) -M. Venkaiah Naidu (Born : 1 July 1949 at Chavatapalem, Andhra Pradesh) is an Indian politician who served as the 13th vice president of India from 2017 to 2022. He has also served as the minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Urban Development and Information and Broadcasting in the Modi Cabinet. Mr. Naidu has also served as the national president of Bharatiya Janata Party from 2002 to 2004. Earlier, he was the Union Cabinet Minister for Rural Development in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. He took the oath as the vice president of India and the chairman of the Rajya Sabha (ex-officio as the Vice President) on 11 August 2017. In 2024, The Government of India honoured him with Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award.

(3) Mr. Sudesh Bhonsle (Born – 1st July, 1962 in Mumbai, Maharashtra) -Sudesh Bhosale is an Indian playback singer who primarily sings for Marathi and Bollywood films. Bhosale is known for his ability to mimic actor Amitabh Bachchan, having sung for him in various films. Bhosale studied in Ambedkar College, Wadala. He got his first major break in playback singing in the film Zalzala (1988). He used mimicry to become a professional dubbing artist for several artists like Sanjeev Kumar and Anil Kapoor. Bhosale is the producer and judge on K For Kishore, a singing contest on Sony Entertainment Television. He has sung many famous Bollywood songs for Amitabh Bachchan including “Jumma chumma de de” from 1991 movie Hum, “Meri Makhna Meri Soniye” from Baghban and others. He mimicked for Amitabh Bachchan in movies such as Family.
