(1) Late Parkash Singh Badal (Born : 8th December 1927 at Malwa, Died on 25th April 2023) – was an Indian politician who served as the 8th Chief Minister of Punjab from 1970 to 1971, from 1977 to 1980, from 1997 to 2002, and from 2007 to 2017. He was also Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Legislative Assembly from 1972 to 1977, 1980 to 1983 and from 2002 to 2007 and the 11th Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare in the Morarji Desai ministry from 1977 to 1977. He was the patron of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), a Sikh-centered regional political party, and the president of the party from 1995 to 2008, when he was replaced by his son Sukhbir Singh Badal. As the patron of SAD he exercised a strong influence on the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. The Government of India awarded him the second-highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan, in 2015.
(2) Mr. Dharmendra Deol (Born: December 8, 1935 at Ludhiana) – Dharam Singh Deol commonly and widely known as Dharmendra, is an Indian actor, producer and politician who is known for his work in Hindi films and has also worked in few Punjabi films. Known as the first “He-Man” of Bollywood, Dharmendra has worked in over 300 films in a career spanning over six decades, He is one of the most successful actors in the history of Hindi cinema. In 1997, he received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to Hindi cinema. He was a member of the 15th Lok Sabha of India, representing Bikaner constituency in Rajasthan from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In 2012, he was awarded India’s third-highest civilian honour Padma Bhushan by the Government of India.
(3) Mrs. Sharmila Tagore (Born: 8th December 1944 at Hyderabad) -Sharmila Tagore is an Indian actress, primarily known for her work in Hindi and Bengali cinema, Tagore is the recipient of two National Film Awards, a Filmfare Award, and the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award for her contributions to Hindi cinema. In 2013, the Government of India, honoured her with Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian honour for her contributions to the Indian culture through performing arts.
