(1) Late Parkash Singh Badal (Born : 8th December 1927 at Malwa, Died on 25th April 2023) – was an Indian politician who served as the 8th Chief Minister of Punjab from 1970 to 1971, from 1977 to 1980, from 1997 to 2002, and from 2007 to 2017. He was also Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Legislative Assembly from 1972 to 1977, 1980 to 1983 and from 2002 to 2007 and the 11th Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare in the Morarji Desai ministry from 1977 to 1977. He was the patron of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), a Sikh-centered regional political party, and the president of the party from 1995 to 2008, when he was replaced by his son Sukhbir Singh Badal. As the patron of SAD he exercised a strong influence on the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. The Government of India awarded him the second-highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan, in 2015.
(2) Mr. Dharmendra Deol (Born: December 8, 1935 at Ludhiana) – Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol, known mononymously as Dharmendra, is an Indian actor, producer, and politician who is primarily known for his work in Hindi films. Nicknamed the “He-Man” of Bollywood, Dharmendra is widely regarded as one of the greatest actors of Indian cinema and to be among the most handsome Indian actors of all time. In 2012, he has received the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian honour, from the Government of India. Dharmendra has worked in more than 200 films in a career spanning over six decades. Dharmendra made his debut in 1960 with Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere. He first gained popularity in the mid-1960s for films, such as Ayee Milan Ki Bela, Kaajal and Phool Aur Patthar, and achieved greater stardom in later years, being dubbed India’s “Garam Dharam” for several of his on-screen roles in Hindi films. He consistently starred in several successful Hindi films from the late-1960s to the 1980s, such as Ankhen, Shikar, Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke, Jeevan Mrityu, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Seeta Aur Geeta, Raja Jani, Jugnu, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Dost, Sholay, Pratiggya, Charas, Dharam Veer, Chacha Bhatija, Ghulami, Hukumat, Aag Hi Aag, Elaan-E-Jung and Tahalka, as well as some of his acclaimed performances, include Anpadh, Bandini, Haqeeqat, Anupama, Mamta, Majhli Didi, Satyakam, Naya Zamana, Samadhi, Resham Ki Dori, Chupke Chupke, Dillagi, The Burning Train, Do Dishayen and Hathyar. (3) Mrs. Sharmila Tagore (Born: 8th December 1944 at Hyderabad) – Sharmila Tagore, is an Indian actress primarily known for her work in Hindi and Bengali films. Regarded among the greatest actresses in the history of Indian cinema, she is known for portraying both traditional and modern women. Tagore is a recipient of two National Film Awards, a Filmfare Award and the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2013, the Government of India, honoured her with Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian honour for her contributions to Indian culture through performing arts. Born into the prominent Tagore family, one of the leading families of Calcutta and a key influence during the Bengali Renaissance, Tagore made her acting debut at age 14 with Satyajit Ray’s acclaimed Bengali epic drama The World of Apu (1959). She went on to collaborate with Ray on numerous other films, including Devi (1960), Nayak (1966), Aranyer Din Ratri (1970), and Seemabaddha (1971); thus establishing herself as one of the most prominent figures in Bengali cinema. Tagore’s career further expanded when she ventured into Hindi films with Shakti Samanta’s romance Kashmir Ki Kali (1964). Following a hiatus of 13 years, she made her film comeback with the drama Gulmohar (2023). The film Gulmohar also received the National Film Awards 2024 award in the Best Feature Film in Hindi category. Tagore converted to Islam, changed her name to Begum Ayesha Sultana, and married Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the titular Nawab of Pataudi and Bhopal and former captain of the Indian cricket team, on 27 December 1968.
