Indian cinema has touched the potential of making films of every variety. Here films are also being made on science, technology and space based stories. In Indian cinema, many films based on science fiction in Hindi and other regional languages started from the 1960s. ‘Mr. X in Bombay’ was the first Hindi film, which released in the year 1964 which was based on scientific research, and Kishore Kumar played the lead role in this film. The film gained a lot of fame. After that, science-based films started being produced in Bollywood. However, its number was not much in the initial stages.
The thrill of knowing the world outside the earth has been intact for a long time. Many such films have also been made in Bollywood, in which Alien is shown coming from another planet. Films based on space in Hindi cinema were produced in the 1960s. Famous actor Dara Singh played the role of a man who traveled on the moon in the film ‘Trip to Moon’ (1967). In that film, a world was imagined on the moon. It was shown in that film that there is a population of alien on the moon too. This movie was first Hindi movie which was based on space and alien related story.
Space based serials has been produced in the Indian television world as well. TV serial ‘Space City Sigma’ (1989) was the first serial in the Hindi television world which was based on Space. This TV serial became very famous in its time.
After that, in Hindi films too, films were produced on stories based on planets beyond the earth and became quite popular.
