There is no dearth of talent in Bihar. Every year, many candidates of Bihar become officers after passing the UPSC Civil Services Examination, which is considered to be the toughest in India. After passing the UPSC exam, candidates are appointed to the post of IAS, IPS, Indian Foreign Service, Income Tax Commissioner etc. Even today many people of Bihar are giving their services in India and abroad in the form of IAS, IPS, IFS etc.
From Bihar till 2021 AD, a total of 4 candidates have got the top position in the UPSC civil service examination and have become IAS.
The list of toppers of IAS exam from Bihar is as follows.
(1) Mr. Amir Subhani (1987) – is currently on the post of Development Commissioner of Bihar.
(2) Mr. Sunil Kumar Barnwal (1997) – His ancestral residence is in Gaya district of Bihar. He is currently posted as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs in Maharashtra.
(3) Mr. Alok Ranjan Jha (2001) – Although he could have become an IAS officer, he chose to become an IFS. He is currently working as Ambassador of India to the Republic of Belarus.
(4) Mr. Shubham Kumar (2021) – His ancestral residence is Kumhari village of Kadwa block of Katihar district of Bihar. He comes from a family of Kushwaha (OBC) caste. After getting 290 rank in UPSC in the year 2019, he was currently working in Indian Defense Accounts Service Pune. While working, he topped the UPSC Civil Services Examination.
